Invited testers
Beta test plan
Updated August 18, 2026
Before you begin
- Use the exact email address that was approved for your invitation.
- Go to syncstring.app/login and choose Personal or Business as instructed in your invitation.
- Apple testers must choose Share My Email. A private relay address will not match the approved beta email.
- Google testers must be added explicitly as OAuth test users. Google's unverified-app warning and a bare syncstring.app domain instead of the app name are expected during this invite-only beta; they do not mean the flow is broken.
- Use accounts and provider data you are comfortable including in a beta test. Do not send passwords, authorization codes, contact details, or screenshots containing private data in a bug report.
Core test
- Sign in with your approved Apple, Google, or Microsoft identity and confirm the correct portal opens.
- Review the consent screen. Continue only if the requested access and data handling are clear.
- Connect one supported provider: iCloud, Google, or Microsoft 365. Identity sign-in and provider connection are separate permissions.
- Run or request a provider read. Confirm calendar discovery, event read, and contact read report sensible non-empty results for an account that contains test records.
- Open Contact Groups and confirm the group totals and sample membership look reasonable.
- Create a manual backup, wait for completion, download the SyncString copy where offered, and run a restore preview. Note that a calendar backup holds availability metadata and cannot recreate full deleted-event content.
- For a disposable Google or Microsoft test account, preview and confirm one contact create or update and one calendar-event create or update. Confirm the native provider apps show exactly one result.
- Find a specifically named disposable calendar event, choose occurrence or whole series when asked, review the itemized deletion preview, and confirm deletion only if the provider-delete safety switch is enabled for the test environment.
- Review Sync status, Duplicates, Stored data, Support, Activity, Account, and Beta access. Each module should work or explain its waiting state honestly.
- Sign out, use the browser Back button, and confirm protected pages do not reopen. Sign in again and confirm your settings remain.
Business and admin pilot
- Sign in through the business path with the assigned Microsoft account.
- Confirm you can see only your assigned organization and role.
- For an assigned admin, verify People, tenant, provisioning, policy, audit, and beta-access views. Billing administration is outside this beta.
- For the designated SCIM pilot only, assign one test user or group in Entra and confirm the expected person appears. Do not enable broad automatic provisioning until the pilot result is reviewed.
Do not test in Beta 1
Do not test contact deletion, iCloud provider writes, restore into a provider, duplicate merge execution, paid checkout, or deletion inferred from a missing record. A missing record is never a delete signal. Treat restore as a comparison preview only.
Report a result
Email support@syncstring.app with the date and local time, device, browser, sign-in provider, page or feature, expected result, and actual result. Include whether the issue repeats. Remove names, email addresses, phone numbers, calendar titles, credentials, and tokens from screenshots.
A successful pass means sign-in, consent, one provider read, Contact Groups, backup creation, restore preview, sign-out, and return sign-in all worked without exposing another user or organization.
